Keyshia Cole and Plies both release their third albums respectively and I must say the third time is most definitely the charm.
Keyshia ditches her heart breaking ballads for more a sexy, loving feel for the record. She starts off the album with the intro entitled "A Different Me" the same title as the album. She then begins it with "Make Me Over" a Polow da Don produced single that reminds me of a jazzy salute to the late James Brown. Other singles that stand out are "Erotic", and the second single "You Complete Me" which shows that Keyshia's vocals are stronger than ever. Amina Harris, from Keyshia's hit "Should've Let You Go" appears on the album as well on the track "No Other" and Nas on one of my personal favorites "Ohh, Yeah Yeah". ATLien Monica appears on the retouched up version of "Trust" Both girls shine! But my favorites cuts on the album include "Thought You Should Know" about meeting a dude with a lil edge in the club but telling him "It's going to take more than one drink to get ME home". "This Is Us" finds Keyshia riding a new sound, by producer Ron Fair, with acoustic arrangements and a soft melody. Overall, this album is a good listen and a step up from Keyshia's signature sound. Definitely worth the buy!
Plies sticks to his same sound on his third album "Da REAList" with appearances by Ashanti, Sean Garrett and Chris J on "Want It, Need It" "Street Light" and "Put It On Ya" the first official single. He sticks to the streets, with the single "Pants Hang Low" and switches up his rap flow on "All Black". Two of my favorites are "Fuck You Gon Do Bout It" and "Me and My Goons" which will definitely be club bangers. But the most personal song on his album is "Family Straight" where he talks about his 16 year old cousin being pregnant, an aunt living with AIDS and wanting God to make sure his family is straight before him leaving the earth.
